New Anna Art Award: Identifies and celebrates women in South Africa

Two woman-centric South African makes, ANNA, and Latitudes have collaborated to develop an enjoyable new artwork award. The award aims to find out, recognise, and nurture a new era of girls in South Africa.

 A mission to motivate and empower females

 Juanita Kotzé, Imaginative Director of ANNA – Pure Organic and natural Pads and Liners, South Africa’s first locally developed, environmentally pleasant sanitary range, believes this award is aspect of their mission to help and empower gals. “ANNA is about liberation, belonging, sustainability and reality, and I simply cannot believe of a greater way to share and categorical this ethos than by the development and celebration of art.”

 In accordance to Lucy MacGarry, co-founder of Latitudes, a person of the quickest increasing on the internet platforms that showcases art from Africa, the ANNA Award honours girls artists who have proven remarkable originality, imagination, and perseverance in their innovative careers. “The ANNA Award is developed to give space to women’s tales through the medium of visual artwork. We’re searching ahead to the award becoming an essential yearly occasion in the planet of present-day art on the continent,” she provides. 

 Inclusive to all

 Latitudes and ANNA believe that that the ANNA Award must be inclusive. As these, no official artwork instruction is required to use, there are no age constraints for applicants, and the levels of competition is open to ladies artists doing the job in any medium. 

 Twelve finalists will be picked, and the ANNA variety committee will evaluation the submissions:

 1. Makgati Molebatsi – Arts advisor, Curator, and Senior Artwork Professional at Aspire Art Auctions.

2. Refiloe Mpakanyane – Weekend breakfast host, 702.

3. Candice Chirwa – Menstruation activist, speaker, and educational.

4. Marianne Fassler – Manner Designer, Leopard Frock.

5. Jo-Ann Strauss is a South African design, public speaker, and businesswoman.

6. Nina Carew – Curator of Latitudes.

The ANNA award winner will receive an R100,000 hard cash prize, a month’s residency at PLAAS #inplaasvan in Franschhoek, South Africa, a profile on Latitudes On-line, and a year’s source of ANNA items. The profitable piece of artwork will be additional to the ANNA Awards Assortment. The twelve finalists will be introduced to the Latitudes viewers, who will vote on the Audience Award winner.
