Fancy yourself as an interior designer who is able to channel your inner Kirsty and Phil?

Well there is good news for you, as Channel Four is looking for contestants from Edinburgh to compete in a new competitive TV show.

The concept of ‘Design Your Dream’ is based around contestants competing against one another to design the inside of an empty apartment.

Those taking part in the show will be set specific tasks and challenges where they will be required to harness their design skills in order to win.

Contestants will compete against one another until there is one winner remaining.

The winner of the show will receive a two bedroom flat in a so-called historic development in Sheffield’s city centre.

Filming is understood to be taking place over nine weeks and will take place in the Summer of 2022.

On the application form, which can be accessed here, Remarkable Television says: “Thank you for your interest in Design Your Dream (working title).

“Do you believe you have a unique talent for design and are passionate about transforming interior spaces into dream destinations?

“We are looking for people with a passion for interior design who do not own their own home to compete for a life changing prize of winning an apartment.

“In Design Your Dream, contestants will each be given an empty apartment within the same development complex to design their dream home. Contestants will be judged on their performance in a series of design challenges and skills within the apartment and elsewhere. Contestants will compete against each other until there is only one contestant remaining. The winner of the competition will become the owner of their very own two bedroom apartment within a historic development in the heart of Sheffield.

“We are interested in hearing from people who have got experience in and a flair for interior design and who do not own their own home.

“We are aiming to film in Summer 2022. Though they may be eliminated from the competition at any stage in this knockout competition, successful applicants will nonetheless need to be able to commit to 9 continuous weeks of filming of up to 5 days each week spent on location away from home.

“If you are up for the challenge of this life changing competition then Design Your Dream would love to hear from you.”

Contestants cannot own their own home prior to competing in the competition.

Deborah Dunnett, commissioning editor, features and daytime at Channel 4, said:

“Everybody has their own vision of what makes a home stand out. This series promises to show off the creative talents and tastes of interior designers from around the UK – for a truly spectacular prize. I’m looking forward to working with Remarkable and thrilled that the vibrant city of Sheffield is going to be the home of this innovative competition format.”

Kitty Walshe, CEO Remarkable Factual, said: “We are delighted to be working with Channel 4 on this project. It’s a big factual entertainment format with a really dramatic elimination mechanic that will have viewers on the edge of their seats. The life-changing prize is one of the biggest on UK television and we’re excited to be making this innovative new format that’s unlike anything else out there.”

Adam Higgins, co-founder of Capital & Centric, said: “Our Eyewitness Works building in Sheffield is packed full of original features and when restored it’ll be a genuine, design-led community. It’s going to be awesome to see how the designers put their creative spin on this historic space, with the winner eventually calling it home.”
