flower days – things that grew in may

Flower times and things that grew in could. A shelfie to share all the very best blooms that ended up in the backyard this late spring. From fragile poppies with tissue paper petals to difficult pom poms of chive bouquets. Bladder campion on wiry stems and sweetly scented sweet peas, there is calendula in abundance and an explosion of sweet rocket, arcs of campanula and trails of custard coloured nasturtiums, vanilla scented Nemesia, autumn-sown snapdragons in apple blossom pink and a handful of rattling brizia to best it all off.

The rising area we developed very last 12 months is complete of green leaves and new shoots, so considerably more in bud ready to open and unfold, the roses are blooming on the arches and in the beds wildly now. Time allowing I will be back again before long and my next write-up will be a tour of the cottage garden and greenhouse to see it now, what is rising, and examine it to final 12 months.

But for right now, these are the items that grew in Might, all my favourites collected jointly in the window of the lean-to. The winds have so considerably been rather kind and the blend of sunshine and showers has meant the lushness is off the scale as opposed to last year’s cold but dry spring. To be going into summer season with almost nothing parched is these kinds of a blessing. Now I have just got to retain the slugs absent from the dahlias and zinnias for the subsequent act. Desire me luck! x
