An Exclusive Look Inside Ralph Lauren Home’s Stunning New Trade Gallery

[ad_1]

It is difficult to imagine a company more synonymous with American style and impeccable quality than Ralph Lauren. From sleek, tailored runway looks to its relaxed and convivial restaurants, the world of Ralph Lauren is classic, stylish and refined. So, it’s little surprise that Ralph Lauren Home is a favorite of AD100 interior designers and AD readers alike.

And with the recent opening of Ralph Lauren To The Trade Gallery at The New York Design Center (200 Lexington Avenue), it’s easier than ever to explore the collection. The 7,500 square foot trade gallery is the ultimate resource for interior designers: the gallery carries furniture, lighting, floor coverings and more that are perfect for spaces ranging from a charming country house to a glamorous, modern penthouse. The gallery is also notable for boasting the most comprehensive collection of Ralph Lauren Home in North America, as well as bespoke services like Made to Measure and Made to Order custom seating. But Ralph Lauren To The Trade Gallery is far more than just a showroom: thoughtful details like the integrated design studio allow designers and their clients the chance to peruse a wide selection of fabrics, floor coverings, and decorative accessories. This holistic approach makes it simple for a designer’s creative vision to be tangibly – and fully – realized.

With the help of the sharp editorial eyes of AD’s Market Director Madeline O’ Malley and Associate Editor Mel Studach, we’ve picked out 12 of the most eye-catching items – from tufted sofas to double-tiered chandeliers – available at Ralph Lauren To The Trade Gallery. Read on to discover some of our favorites (and, we hope, find yours as well).

Ralph Lauren is best known for its traditional thoroughbred lifestyle. Think furniture made with hand-polished mahogany, or lamps with antiqued brass bases: a mix of both American and European influences, but straightforwardly classic.

Brook Street Tufted Sofa

A classic chesterfield never goes out of style, but we especially love how this version is accentuated with antique brass nailheads and subtly distressed leather. Moreover, the Brook Street Sofa is part of the Gallery’s Made to Measure program, which means the sofa is available in several sizes offering an exceptional fit for any space.  For more information, contact a Ralph Lauren Trade Professional at The New York Design Center at 332-236-9222.

Beekman Cocktail Table

If you’re looking for a true statement piece for your living room, this cocktail table is it. The chinoiserie-influenced silhouette features delicate, hand-carved features atop Ming-style legs, in Conservatory Garden Mahogany or One Fifth Black, is both striking and versatile.  For more information, contact a Ralph Lauren Trade Professional at The New York Design Center at 332-236-9222.

Organic Cotton Shirting Stripe Bedding Collection

Ralph Lauren pioneered the idea of taking classic menswear patterns and expanding it into the home and it remains an integral part of the collection. Other thoughtful touches that drew us to this set include pearlized button closures on the pillowcases, custom monogramming, and contrast top stitching.

Ralph Lauren Home’s modern equestrian sensibility draws inspiration from both English saddlery and the American thoroughbred tradition. Details in these pieces include wrapped leather cording, hand-applied joinery, and, of course, saddle stitching. We love this collection because it shows the versatility of Ralph Lauren Home: there are modern accents, like brass details, that pair exquisitely with saddle leather or blond mahogany wood.

Dalton Leather Bed

Modern design meets comfort in this four-poster bed which is wrapped fully in saddle leather. This showstopper piece is also quite the chameleon: it’s as home in a modern city apartment as it is on a sprawling Western ranch.  For more information, contact a Ralph Lauren Trade Professional at The New York Design Center at 332-236-9222.

Westbury Double-Tier Chandelier

Ralph Lauren has always been inspired by an equestrian lifestyle. We love the juxtaposition of the stirrup-inspired hardware with the open-top empire shades made out of natural linen. The equestrian elements of this light fixture are subtle enough to work in many types of interior design styles, from traditional to transitional.

The sophisticated penthouse aesthetic offers some of Ralph Lauren Home’s boldest silhouettes. The decor in this collection is inspired both by the glamour of Old Hollywood and the streamlined, cosmopolitan beauty of Art Deco.   For more information, contact a Ralph Lauren Trade Professional at The New York Design Center at 332-236-9222.

Duke Bar

This 1930s Art Deco-inspired piece is one of the most famed in the Ralph Lauren Home collection. Constructed out of beautiful rosewood, it features polished, stainless steel trim, pulls and escutcheons. Inside, it’s smartly designed to accommodate barware from champagne glasses to highballs, as well as a polished steel tray that holds all your cocktail-making supplies.   For more information, contact a Ralph Lauren Trade Professional at The New York Design Center at 332-236-9222.

Tubular Bauhaus Wall Mirror

Another piece that draws inspiration from the 1930s (albeit from the Bauhaus tradition) is this striking mirror. The Bauhaus school married aesthetics with everyday function, and this mirror also embodies both sophistication and a utilitarian feel. We were especially taken by its polished stainless steel frame and the industrial-style hardware.   For more information, contact a Ralph Lauren Trade Professional at The New York Design Center at 332-236-9222.

Hudson Street Lounge Chair

Another of Ralph Lauren Home’s most iconic pieces is this streamlined lounge chair. Its continuous, curvy arm of polished steel is reminiscent of the Art Moderne style.

Ralph Lauren Home also offers collections that are perfect for your retreat from urban life, whether that’s the seaside or the mountains. These pieces are inspired by both vintage and heirloom furniture, and the sensibility is cozy and familiar.   For more information, contact a Ralph Lauren Trade Professional at The New York Design Center at 332-236-9222.

Writer’s Chair

First unveiled over 30 years ago, this oversized and comfortable piece boasts wide, rolled arms and classic tufts. In a cheery white and blue ticking upholstery, it possesses a playfulness not seen with a more traditional fabric choice. But when outfitted in a classic burnished leather, it takes on a stately, yet lived-in elegance. We think this chair is one of the best examples of how a single piece of Ralph Lauren Home furniture can work in multiple design styles: all it takes is the right upholstery.   For more information, contact a Ralph Lauren Trade Professional at The New York Design Center at 332-236-9222.

Jamaica Salon Sofa

When we think of elegant comfort, we imagine soft cushions and premium fabrics, both of which this piece delivers in spades. Its roll arms and nailhead trim lend it a traditional aesthetic, while hand-upholstered fabric ensures clean lines. This piece is also part of the Made to Measure program, meaning it can be sized perfectly for any room.   For more information, contact a Ralph Lauren Trade Professional at The New York Design Center at 332-236-9222.

Beatrice Large Lantern in Aged Iron

For an antique look with the convenience of modern bulbs, we recommend this lantern. It is fashioned using restoration glass panels that are reminiscent of mouth-blown window glass, and features candelabra bulbs for a turn of the century feel.

The To the Trade Gallery also offers an expertly curated assortment of lighting, all inspired by the worlds of Ralph Lauren. We love the easy-to-use digital lighting display, which allows designers to access the full breadth of the brand’s superb lighting collection.   For more information, contact a Ralph Lauren Trade Professional at The New York Design Center at 332-236-9222.

Halifax Large Table Lamp

This oversized lamp, with perforations across the body, was inspired by an antique soap-making vessel. It’s one of our favorite pieces because of its versatility: it fits as well in a country cottage as it does in a Manhattan apartment.   For more information, contact a Ralph Lauren Trade Professional at The New York Design Center at 332-236-9222.
