An internet search for ‘horse country homes’ generates countless images of cottage- or farmhouse-style residences beyond fields of majestic creatures. When a busy young family decides to move into one of those residences, it may take some out-of-the-box inspiration to reimagine the property. That’s the approach Theory Design’s Vice President of Design, Ruta Menaghlazi, and Senior Interior Designer, Paula Myette, are applying to Seagate Development Group’s custom home, breaking ground this month off Daniels Parkway and Palomino Lane in Fort Myers.
Capitalizing on the secluded, pastured and wooded setting, combined with the family’s lifestyle, the leading firm is creating a modern, classic design with a high-end, comfortable look for 5,700-plus square feet of living space. A timeless exterior color palette, including white with black shutters and windows, a gray flat tile roof, as well as charcoal and white pavers, were selected.
Upon entering through the black iron and glass double entry doors, one will enter the grand foyer where floor-to-ceiling windows will connect the main living areas with panoramic views of the outdoor gardens and pool. Signature pieces like a baby grand piano and an open staircase with black metal balusters topped with a natural wood handrail will set the tone for daily life and entertaining. Wide plank European oak flooring and a vaulted ceiling with rustic wood beams will transition occupants into the great room that will feature a fireplace and media wall with an inviting sectional for movie nights. These light, warm finishes will continue into the adjacent kitchen where the home’s most dramatic and luxurious elements will be defined by a black island, dove white perimeter cabinetry, a black gas range and hood by La Cornue with stainless-steel details, black plumbing for both sinks, and a panel-ready refrigerator and freezer. The French doors in the wet-bar-equipped dining room will lead to the covered lanai and outdoor living area where relaxation and entertainment will continue with an outdoor kitchen and dining space, a roomy sitting area boasting an outdoor fireplace, plus a custom pool, sun shelf and pergola-covered spa that will complement the wooded landscape and gardens.
Back inside, the junior master suite on the first floor will serve as an ideal retreat space for guests, while the master suite off the grand foyer will be the homeowners’ sanctuary. They will have oversized windows with expansive garden views as well as direct access to the pool and spa. Their spa-like bath will feature a luxurious soaking tub, separate vanities, a sit-down makeup area and a custom linen cabinet. There will also be a large walk-in shower with a floating bench and Rain head shower system. The first floor concludes with a private media room/den, plus a space for the children to call their own – an after-school study with lockers, cubbies and a craft table.
The second story will present three children’s bedrooms, a small loft that will serve as a hangout area as well as a covered balcony to take in a higher perspective of the tranquil scenery. When the children’s friends sleep over, they will enjoy a room with bunkbeds above the garage. A second laundry room will top off this floor.
“This home is being thoughtfully designed for the new owners – meeting every purpose and ensuring that every square inch is utilized to its fullest potential for this active family,” said Myette.
In addition to the custom home, Theory Design is creating interiors for Seagate Development Group’s model homes at Hill Tide Estates, model and custom homes at Talis Park, custom homes at Esplanade Lake Club and upcoming projects at Quail West.
