Clutter and Hoarding – Announcing 6 Fast Ways to Unclutter Your Kid’s Bedroom

Cleaning your child’s bedroom can be a real trip. It can be a challenge because you never know what you’re going to find in there. You’ll maybe find gum wrappers, candy wrappers perhaps or maybe even a frog! We all know that it’s important to have a clean room for our children because a clean room best supports their good health. And because we care about our children, uncluttering and organizing their room helps us feel better as parents, too. Announcing 6 fast ways to unclutter your kid’s bedroom.

1. Involve your child in the activity. Children love to help and do things with mommy and daddy. Be sure to give your child tasks in line with his or her capabilities. Sometimes we expect more than they can deliver.

2. Including a child in the activity is an opportunity to further build your relationship with your child in a loving, responsible way. See if you can make a game out of it. Ask your child to put all of the green colored toys in the toy box. And then, after they do that, sit down together on the floor and read part of a story together.

3. Repeat this process for let’s say the blue colored toys. After your child puts away the blue colored toys, the both of you together sit down and read some more in the chosen storybook. As you do this, you’re teaching your child self-discipline for cleaning up his or her room and encouraging him or her to do things in a way reasonably paced for him or her.

4. Another benefit of you and your child making a game of cleaning up your child’s room is that your child learns to accept responsibility for him or herself. This is an important skill to develop for the child when he or she gets older.

5. Another thing you might do while working with your child, is turn on some music as you work together cleaning. At some point, after your child accomplishes another cleaning goal, maybe the both of you would like to sing and dance. When you enjoy what you’re doing time seems to zoom on by.

6. And another thing you can do while you unclutter and organize is to celebrate all along the way enjoying the feeling of accomplishment as you clean up the room. You and your child can do hand clapping, dancing or something else so that your child and you enjoy what you’re doing.
