When I initial frequented Sweden at the tender age of 9, I entirely fell in appreciate with my Swedish friends’ summer cottage. It was all the things you’d affiliate with the Swedish summertime: a picturesque purple and white cottage surrounded by woodland, lakes and the sweet scent of roses. Oh, and probably the odd mosquito! When I stumbled across Alex and Erika’s region house on the net yesterday, it took me straight back to that summer! Affectionately recognized as Gubbetorp
, Alex and Erika’s croft is located in the attractive Östergötland countryside and has been lovingly restored a person place at a time. The pair share a enthusiasm for antiques, classic finds and up biking all of which insert to the appeal of the area. Here are a couple of snapshots from in advance of and after the renovation – together with ikea hacks, outside bathroom and all!

The pair peeled back the laminate floor to learn a wonderful wooden flooring – what a terrific discovery! Wallpaper from Böråstapeter
provides a cosy contact to the space and aids draw character indoors.

Alex and Erika picked up an IKEA upper body of drawers for a tune (100 SEK – or 8 quid!) and painted it in a gentle grey-green. Rabarber 1792
wallpaper provides a vivid truly feel to the space.
Out of doors bathroom right before
It really is not that uncommon for Swedish cottages to have an outside bathroom with no operating h2o. I not too long ago stayed at Helen’s lovely place which was the same! It took me again to the days I used Grandmother’s house. Granny Ruth experienced an outside and indoor loo. We never utilised the out of doors 1 as it was normally total of spiders!
But the ones I have professional in Sweden are so significantly fresher – particularly just after a make-over!
Erika and Alex have fully spruced up their outdoor loo – including wooden panelling which has been painted in the exact same hue as the cottage interior.
They have also extra home comforts these kinds of as a hand towel, magazines, clean wildflowers and maybe most importantly – a classic h2o tank for washing arms.
The standout piece though, has to be the wonderful antique dresser – it adds such a homely contact!
What a difference!
Their garden is basically magical – specially in summertime. It has me dreaming of midsummer (which is only 8 weeks away!) and extensive summer season days alfresco!
I hope you enjoyed this prior to and after element as substantially as I have!
